Simply Dad

Andrew Seidenberg

Our mission is simple. Simply Dad is a foundation solely focused on assisting American families dealing with the worst loss imaginable. Mom. We provide recently widowed fathers with financial and emotional support. Our goal is to assist these families during their greatest time of need as they work to inject hope, strength and joy back into their lives. Simply Dad, one courageous loving Father, is enough to raise a family alone, but sometimes it takes a little extra help to get to the finish line. We plan to assist as many of these families as possible.

Approximately 4.2% of the TWO MILLION single fathers in America with children between the ages of 0-18 are widowed (as per the United States Census). As 5,000 dads per year guide their children into adulthood, on average, another 5,000 widowed fathers replace them. That means in a typical year, one new American child each hour is dealing with the loss of their mother, very likely the most important person in their life. We believe the loss of Mom is the most devastating loss a family can endure. However, with the right support, Dad can provide stability and joy to his children alone. These courageous, loving men are heroes. Simply Dad aims to assist these widowers fighting through tragic circumstances.

The odds of success are greatly heightened when the financial burden can be lightened during the early days as a family regroups. Our mission, our cause, and our goal is to find these worthy families and distribute all our funds appropriately to make a difference in this distinctly overlooked subsection of America.

Our plan is modest, but effective:

  1. IDENTIFY QUALIFIED FAMILIES IN NEED.
  2. RAISE FUNDS USING INDIVIDUAL & CORPORATE DONATIONS ALONG WITH CORPORATE SPONSORSHIPS.
  3. DISTRIBUTE FUNDS TO THE QUALIFIED FAMILIES.

Simply Dad’s board of directors selects families each quarter from all qualified nominations. Families are nominated from the following three sources:

  1. Our website from our donors and supporters.
  2. Our vast network of funeral homes, churches, temples and other organizations who initially support these families in the first days following the loss.
  3. Companies like Kids Art Revolution where 100% of the profits support Simply Dad. We gladly welcome any portion of proceeds from our corporate sponsors.

Qualified families must meet the following criteria:

  1. Family must have experienced a parental loss within the last 12 months.
  2. Family must have children between the ages of 0 – 18.
  3. Family must exhibit need for financial assistance or other support.
  4. The father must be current guardian of their children.

Our board of directors uses a weighted scale to select the families that are most in need which takes into consideration the age of the children, amount of children, financial needs, and current childcare situation.
